Founders Quote of the Day

I just signed up for The Federalist's Founders' Quote of the Day. Today's is a prophetic quote from John Adams.

Democracy will soon degenerate into an anarchy, such an anarchy that every man will do what is right in his own eyes and no man's life or property or reputation or liberty will be secure, and every one of these will soon mould itself into a system of subordination of all the moral virtues and intellectual abilities, all the powers of wealth, beauty, wit and science, to the wanton pleasures, the capricious will, and the execrable cruelty of one or a very few.

Sounds like we need a consistent, objective moral vision for freedom to be safeguarded.

You know that this is a quote arguing for a strong central government right?

One Way

I suppose that's one way to look at it. I thought of it more in terms of another quote from Adams.

Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.

When you take away the moral basis for our Constitution, there's nothing left. That's why I believe organizations like the ACLU are destroying our country.

Re: One Way

I think it's about time as many of us as possible got together and sued the ACLU into the ground and all the way down to the planetary core. They seem to have been taken over by the same elements that have taken over the Democrats: they're all pod-people. (Where'd I put the defoliant and the weed-whacker, honey?)
